Last night the hubby and I caught a free movie screening of Spiderwick Chronicles. I love me some Freddie Highmore, he's like the next Elijah Wood, of child actors turn amazing actors. He really was quite brilliant in Finding Neverland. Now, the previews for this movie seem genuinely good. I was excited to see it, mainly because it was free, but it didn't look awful. Well, in honesty the highlight of the night was when the hubby and I chatted up these two guys in front of us in line and talked about Dr. Who, Buffy and all things geeky.
The movie is okay. Its not worse than Lemony Snicket, nothing can be worse than that monstrosity, but its no Harry Potter. Let me tell you, those Brits have the one up on young adult movies. The Harry Potter movies are just amazing and its hard to have a kid movie contend with that. Spiderwick tries and in the beginning of the movie its quite good, but then you get to the meat and potatoes of it and it just seems rushed and everything just "happens" to work out. I hate when movies do that. Lets keep it real people, yea its a kid's movie, but hey people die all the time in them. Things don't always work out for the antagonist. There were quite a few cheesy moments, that I prefer not to elaborate on. In all honesty, I know my readers and none of you would like this movie if you had to pay to see it, as Ash would say, "I'll watch it when its OnDemand."
Next week we're Penelope. I'm so excited. I've been waiting for this movie for wait feels like an eternity. It should be good, Mr. McAvoy is in it and he can do no wrong.

Yeah, it was an okay flick. Def. glad we didn't pay for it. The first half was great, but once the middle hit and the flower faeries came into the picture...it started turning into cheesy 90's American scripting...ugh!
That's so funny because around the first paragraph I was like "Ah I'll just watch it onDemand"
